Timothy J. Tatro, Esq.

Tim Tatro is a founding partner of Tatro & Zamoyski LLP. Tim's practice covers catastrophic personal injury, elder abuse, medical malpractice, wrongful death, defective products, consumer class actions, unfair competition claims, employment, eminent domain and business litigation.


Education

Tim was born in Los Angeles, California in 1966. He graduated from UC San Diego in 1989 with a B.A. degree in Journalism while spending

his summers working on a cattle ranch in the eastern Sierra Nevadas. He then spent a year in Barcelona teaching English and studying Spanish. Tim attended the University of San Diego School of Law where he served as an editor of the San Diego Law Review and published an article discussing complex tort theories and first amendment rights. (Braun v. Soldier of Fortune: Tort Law Enters the Braun's Age, 30 SDLR 957.)


Experience


Tim was admitted to the California State Bar in 1994 and began specializing in medical malpractice litigation. He spent several years representing physicians, HMOs, and hospitals throughout Southern California in state and federal courts, and was a member of his firm's arbitration team.

In 1999, Tim joined Thorsnes, Bartolotta & McGuire, one of the state's leading plaintiff firms, where he tried, arbitrated, and settled more than 20 million dollars-worth of catastrophic injury claims and consumer class actions.

An active member of the San Diego County Bar, State Bar of California, Consumer Attorneys of California, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, Lawyer's Club of San Diego, and the Enright Chapter of the California Inn of Court, Tim is licensed to practice in both state and federal court.


Beyond the law

In his spare time, Tim volunteers at his daughter's elementary school. An avid guitarist, he has always played with more passion than talent, but his family rarely complains to his face anymore. He also enjoys dogs, fitness, and photography.

Peter A. Zamoyski
Peter A. Zamoyski, Esq.

Peter Zamoyski is a founding partner of Tatro & Zamoyski, LLP. He specializes in commercial real estate, business, and complex personal injury litigation.


Education

Mr. Zamoyski graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1996. He distinguished himself at U.S.D. as a member of the Law Review and earned publication of his student article. Mr. Zamoyski's Law Review peers elected him as a board member and editor of the Law Review.

Mr. Zamoyski also earned practical experience and served his community during law school. He completed a federal court internship for the Honorable Peter W. Bowie, Bankruptcy Judge. Mr. Zamoyski also worked for U.S.D.'s Civil Legal Clinic, where he served as a student lawyer and helped clients in the San Diego community who could not afford to pay for a lawyer.

Before entering law school, Mr. Zamoyski graduated from the University of California, Santa Barbara where he was a pre-law major. He was an All-America water polo player at U.C.S.B., and represented the United States in international tournaments held in Greece, France, England, and Mexico.


Experience

Peter Zamoyski is licensed to practice law before all courts of the State of California, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, and the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California. He has years of trial, arbitration, and mediation experience and enjoys an excellent reputation with San Diego's judges and arbitrators, which was shaped by hard work, honesty, and expertise.

As part of his commercial real estate practice, Mr. Zamoyski negotiates leases, and drafts assignments and other contracts. He also utilizes his skills as a trial attorney to successfully resolve all types of real estate disputes, including breach of lease and unlawful detainer actions, construction defect lawsuits, purchase and sale agreement disputes, as well as disputes involving property and asset managers, developers, and real estate brokers. Mr. Zamoyski's business and general civil litigation experience has seen him help his clients in many other kinds of lawsuits as well - from breach of contract actions, fraud lawsuits, partnership disputes, premises liability claims, to catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death lawsuits.


Beyond the law

When not in the office, Mr. Zamoyski thoroughly enjoys spending his time outdoors in San Diego's sunny weather with his wife and three young children. He plays sports avidly and can usually be found on weekends either mountain biking, swimming, or playing pick-up games of basketball.

Laura Roppé, Esq.
Laura H. Roppé, Esq.

Laura Roppé is a partner at Tatro & Zamoyski, LLP. She specializes in conducting employment-related training seminars for management and non-management personnel. Ms. Roppé also drafts and reviews a wide range of contracts, including business, arbitration, employment, settlement and severance contracts, and has extensive experience litigating employment cases. In addition to her employment-related practice, Ms. Roppé is an accomplished and highly-skilled business and real estate litigator and trial attorney.


Education

University of San Diego School of Law - J.D., 1995

Ms. Roppé graduated magna cum laude and second in her graduating class in 1995. In addition, Ms. Roppé was selected as a member of Order of the Coif. In law school, Ms. Roppé was a member and twice-published author of Law Review. She tutored first-year students, which she found highly gratifying. In addition, after finishing first in her class after her first year, she was awarded a merit scholarship for the balance of her schooling. Ms. Roppé also was the recipient of numerous Jurisprudence awards for top honors, including awards in contracts, employment law, negotiation, criminal law, and constitutional law.

University of California, Los Angeles - B.A., Theater Arts, 1991

Ms. Roppé graduated summa cum laude from UCLA with a degree in Theatre Arts in three years. At UCLA, Ms. Roppé acted in numerous stage productions, including the one-woman show entitled Lady of Letters. She also authored an original one-act play (Guru Bob on the Karmic Plane) which was selected for full production.

Ms. Roppé’s practice focused on employment and business litigation, corporate training and litigation prevention. She managed a heavy caseload of business and employment litigation cases, drafted and reviewed employment handbooks and employment policies and procedures. She also drafted and reviewed a wide range of contracts, including business, arbitration, employment, settlement and severance contracts. Ms. Roppé's specialty and passion is conducting employment-related training seminars for management and non-management personnel. Ms. Roppé also counsels pre-litigation clients in all aspects of litigation prevention and conflict resolution.

Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek: San Diego, CA

Prior to joining Brown Law Group, Ms. Roppé was a business litigator and trial attorney at the San Diego law firm of Seltzer Caplan McMahon Vitek from September 1995 to March 2003.


Publications

Ms. Roppé has been twice published by USD’s Law Review, including a published article in the area of sexual harassment.


Beyond the law

Ms. Roppé is a member of the State Bar of California, U.S. District Court for Southern District of California, Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, American Business Trial Lawyers, American Bar Association, and San Diego County Bar Association. She is a past member of the American Inns of Court. Ms. Roppé has appeared on radio and television programs to discuss developments in employment law, and she has been invited to present seminars to professional human resources organizations.

Ms. Roppé was honored in 1999 with the Star Award for Community Service for her service to local non-profit theatre. Ms. Roppé is actively involved as a volunteer at her children’s school and in her children’s classrooms. In 2006, Ms. Roppé ran a marathon in support of the Charities in Motion Foundation and in 2007, ran the San Diego Rock n Roll Marathon. In addition, Ms. Roppé is the lead singer of a local rock band, CoolBandLuke.
